The Raj!
Well another late night post, fraught with procrastination. I should at the very least be in bed or if not, packing. Yes this time tomorrow night we'll be saying Happy New Year somewhere over the Mediterranean en-route to India. India darling, I think finally I am excited about it. It all came about relatively quickly and now it's here. In that time I've managed to get my passport back (complete with my residency visa), have innoculations, get my Indian visa and buy new luggage. Because I am too old (and too much of a lady) to carry a rucksack these days.
It will hardly come as a surprise but I embrace the old and I must say I am excited about Kerala - for that is where we are off to - and the old colonial charms it will hold. Say what you like about the British invasion of half the world but the legacy remains. 1) English speakers 2) Somewhere glorious to have G&T's, probably with a sunset. I am shallow I agree. I am also very excited about all the other delights that Kerala has to offer and am packing several cameras and a big fat journal to record it all.
I am taking Mrs Dalloway, the 4th Tommy & Tuppence book and hopefully a Somerset Maugham book so you can see I'll be embedded firmly somewhere between the wars. Well when you're wearing linen and floppy hats when else will you be?

Lag
Oh dear, I thought I'd escaped jet lag on my return journey - it's rarely very bad but it would appear as I'm up at 2am on a school night, it did happen. I am resisting the urge to get an alcoholic beverage.
For posterity these are the films I saw on the plane/s.
1.St Trinians
2. 27 Dresses
3. BoyTown
4. Dale and Real Life
5. I Can't Be Your Woman (winner of worst film title EVER!)
Look them up, I can't be arsed finding the IMDB link, they were all watchable and certainly not taxing, which was just as well as I flew at such an ungodly hour and was being deprived Bloody Marys so couldn't have concentrated anyway.
London is just beautiful - the spring leaves have kicked in with a vengeance (it's funny the April trips really do show the most marked difference - viva la seasons) - and the weather is sunny and bright. Heck it's exactly the same as in Perth but we just appreciate it more here. I guess the only thing I was disappointed about down under was the lack of hot enough weather to swim in. Not that I didn't make it to the beach. Dad stood on the shoreline appalled as I braved the waves, cold and seaweed. It was bliss.
My suitcase split open! I found a top of mine on the carousel - luckily underneath my suitcase and luckily it looks like it had only *just* split so contents, apart from the aforementioned top, were kept contained. I managed to get it all home without any further mishap. It would appear the main purchases were yarn, handbags, food and booze. My life there summed up.

Sunshine
I have a horrid feeling that these past few clement days may be the last I have until 'summer'. In spite of my imminent trip to Australia, I had a weather update from my best friend down under who said 'it went from summer to winter in a day and is rainy and windy'. Rainy and windy, my default position. Not mine *stares at Phillip* as such but you know the bulk of the UK's.
It being sunny until gone 7.30 is divine, although it does take some getting used to. I forgot to go home from work. Well, I didn't really, I have quite alot to do before I leave but I wasn't spurred on to leave because it was dark and before I knew it it was 7.15 and I was still there.
There will be nights at the pub over the next few weeks where I'll look around, presume it's six-ish and wonder how it got to be 10 but that'll be because I'm watching the amount of light around. God forbid I might actually wear a watch. I do own them, I think they're lovely, but I never wear them, except one that is and it doesn't really work. And no sarky remarks about me loosing track of time because I've had the odd shandy booze.
Four more glorious sleeps. I've got a haircut planned this weekend and am seriously considering booking a sun tanning session to stop the reflective nature of the colour of my legs. Pins that are almost opaque.
Regardless of which, in two weeks, post the scary flight I shall be somewhere in this photo *points down*. On the beach reading if it's cold, in the water boogie boarding if it's not and in the pub if it's late.

I'm all about the positive me.
