Papa Don't Preach

My dad arrives on Monday for a fortnight's visit. I'm very much looking forward to it but in a deviation from my usual organisation am finding myself increasingly lax in arranging anything for his stay. It will be alright on the night, he's a fairly laid-back chap and happily will do pretty much what I suggest. His contribution so far has been 'shopping in London' and 'castles' both of which are no-brainers. My problem is we did a fairly extensive tour of the UK last time and sort of carved up the middle taking in sights left right and centre. Without wishing to revisit too much or take myself to places I've already seen, we're looking at Lincolnshire, Northampton and Suffolk. Not quite perhaps the tour that'll wow the folks back home. I'm now working to a Yorkshire/Suffolk start and end and we'll wing the rest.

My future step-sister rang just now; Dad wanted to know if he should bring his bathers. A question I would have probably just laughed at previously. His last trip was April '98 and was spent in snowfall, rain and the cold. However the weather of the last few weeks and the continuing forecast means that tropical Britain welcomes the bathers, I told Dad accordingly. Sadly this does mean I need to go out and buy a new pair for myself. I'll need to be fortified before the assault to my self-esteem commences.

I recognise that picture, isn't that from the last time all you girtls went to Brighton for the weekend? have you thought of borrowing the motorhome from Rick for your dads stay!

You know us too well.

That's a delicious idea about the campervan and a very kind offer too but I've been slightly organised and arranged a hire-car for the road trip.

The only place I know in Lincolnshire is Boston. Quite a pretty place but not much to do there for tourists.
