Happy Anniversary

It was ten years ago today that I arrived in London. Determined that this time I would stay on and live like a proper Londoner. This primarily entailed getting a monthly travel card.

Ten years on I now do annual travelcards.

In April 1997 I was in my 20's, Channel 5 had just launched, the Teletubbies had burst onto our screens, Tony Blair was about to become Prime Minister and Princess Diana was still alive. I spent alot of that year on holiday, spending a month in Ireland, another month in Greece and a long weekend in New York. I then spent the majority of what was a hot summer, sitting in the garden at Forest Hill waiting for temp agencies to call me about work and dreaming of working at the BBC.

Ten years on, I'm in my 30's, I now have access to a multitude of channels thanks to Freeview, the Teletubbies are still around and I have way too much knowledge of them thanks to work, Tony Blair is still Prime Minister but about to leave and Diana has been dead just shy of 10 years. I still have a lot of holidays planned having spent a month in Australia, Easter in Cornwall and hope to go to France later next month. The summer is forecast to be a record breaker and I work at the BBC.
