You know we left Kununurra at 10.45am and didn't get to Perth until 3.40pm; it just goes to show how bloody far away it is. Mind you the tiny planes don't help.
I am quite over flying and not looking forward to the flight home. Probably shouldn't be worrying about that just yet - I'm exactly two weeks into the trip, or is it two weeks left?
It has been absolutely frantic thus far which is leaving me exhausted so I'm popping Solpadienes as pickmeups. I know it's not big or clever but it's the closest I can get to uppers. (Feel free to send me Solpa care packages)
Had a bit of a girlie weekend staying in a hotel in town. Started by collecting a hire car on Saturday (the guy in the hire shop asked if I'd ever been to Perth before, obviously I affected an even sillier accent and said 'Why of course, I grew up here' proceeded to tell exaggerated stories of the narrow roads, small cars and tiny footpaths in the UK. I think he'll think twice about driving down a country lane surrounded by hedge rows after my tales).
From there Cath & I went to Leederville and had a lovely lunch and some wine for a few hours, drove to the hotel; checked in, left the car in valet parking (I felt rather posh); then went shopping in town - found an Accessorise, where the hanbags were considerably cheaper. Then back to the hotel's terrace bar for champagne before heading out for dinner and more bubbly. Delighted to see that Perth's once glittering nightlife and restaurant strip, which had undergone a shocking demise in recent times had started to find its feet again. It was a genuinely balmy night and ended up walking back to the hotel.
Sunday after dropping Cath home and marvelling at the wide streets, (I really can't begin to tell you how much space is taken up with roads that I'm going to have to take some very boring photographs to prove it to you) I was picked up and taken out for lunch with three friends to Darlington Winery which is situated in the hills by Perth. Spotted a local celebrity - oh okay the local weather man - but that makes two more celeb spots than I've had in London in ages. Had a delightful lunch - marred only by the fact that I kept coveting Kylie's selections.
We were treated to a rain shower on the drive home - though it was really rather humid and far from cold - where I have stayed for the rest of the evening watching the local equivalent of the BAFTA's. The marvellous Kath & Kim have won an award.
I'm dying to go shopping I feel like there are pounds burning a big hole in my pocket.
Back on Weds....
xx
