Coming Home to Roost
You have to admire the tenacity of the pigeon who comes to roost on landing out the front of my flat.
I have just seen her back for the third time having laid an egg, seemingly having forgotten that the last two times she did that someone (and I have no idea who) will a) smash it or b) remove it which is what happened previously.
Now I may not put Pigeons on top of my list of favourite animals (though Bri and his mates I am rather fond of) and there is the little matter of bird shit everywhere whenever her and her partner come to take up residence but it did seem a little cruel to find a broken roof tile in amongst the shell remains. At least the second time the disposee had the courtesy to just remove the egg, though why they waited for several weeks before doing so I do not know.
I'd send the cat out to see her off but quite frankly all that flapping about would terrify her and that's just me getting her out the front door.
[edit the egg is gone, and in it's place, some potted plants. This means it's my neighbour who is killing pigeons}
