"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” George Elliot
It dawns on me, with quite a jolt I might add, that the year has all but slipped away from me. And that before I know it, I will have seen December out and have been to Australia and back again and it'll be the end of January and 2007 will not only loom large but will be in full swing. It's a scary thought.
I've had a busy year, I rarely feel that I waste my time, I mean clearly I do; there are many aspects of my life that could do with addressing but on the whole I am busy and happy and excited and looking forward to whatever the future holds. I am probably a bit more enthused as I feel I have cunning plan evolving, one that may or may not come to fruition but as I alway say "It's nice to have a plan".
I love this last third of the year, I love the weather, I love the fact it's always so busy and sociable, I love that the days are short, the nights cold and the pubs ever so welcoming. I love shopping for presents for friends and family (and me of course) and I love Christmas lights. I do not like getting a year older but it's a blip in anotherwise perfectly lovely time of year.
However I have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of a proper autumn, though this same lack of autumn has meant that just half an hour ago I was out on the balcony gardening in a t-shirt and not being especially cold, I mean the fact that the plants needed pruning and attention just goes to show what this global warming malarky can do. I've given up waiting for the proper cold to come and started wearing my winter coat, I just don't wear a great deal underneath. Oh not like that. Well not quite.
The downside of the sociability is it's just so darn expensive, and I live outside my means enough already so I'm going to have to be strong and just say no.
But then you know, who wants to die with money in the bank? No danger of that now anytime soon.
Not after Florida and a fantastic exchange rate.....
