Richard Curtis you have a lot to answer for....
I moved to the UK just so my life could be like a film. In so many ways it is.
Why my journey to work is past all the picture postcard sites of London town, I work in media, my friends have large manor houses in the country and at least one of them is Anna Chancellor although sometimes I am good friends with Sophie Thompson. Often we are dressed in period costume and our meddlesome mothers get in the way of our true love. Still, the weddings are always held in beautiful churches and gardens and there are at least two cute children frolicking under a table. Everyone I know drives an MG or other sports car. Unless it's a Mini. The best bit is the weather, it's either really lovely and sunny or it's a beautiful snowy day.
Bizarrely there is often a lot of running about and confusion in my daily life. Mis-communications and over-heard gossip. Still it all comes right in the end when I'm down at the pub with my mates, where it's never crowded and we can always get a seat.
Americans feature quite often too.
If you want to see my life as a film, you can go no further than The Wedding Date. You can imagine my shock and surprise to see me on screen in such a manner. I mean they had the courtesy to change my job to Virgin Atlantic check-in *insert gratuitious product placement* and do a reverse Pretty Woman type premise. But essentially dear reader that film shows exactly what it is like to live in England.
I'm just really glad I chose to live in a film and not a television programme.
