Great Western

I went to Wales at the weekend, no passport required I found out. Obviously I knew that. I have been many times before, it's just the old tired "Take your passport when you 'go south of the river' 'outside the M25' 'England' *insert own*" joke. (Which is as subtle as a sledgehammer and really did not need explaining).

It was an absolutely delightful whirlwind trip; out to Newport on Saturday, up to Pontypool over to Abergavenny for the Food & Wine Festival, back to Pontypool then to the local pub, then back to Newport on Sunday for the not delayed train ride home*. Lots of food, excellent local ales and some red wine. All in a lovely weekend break and hosted most superbly by Katie & Stuart.

I did not see Catherine Zeta-Jones for which I was most disappointed. We did however see Hugh Fearnley-Whyistherenomeatonmyplatestall. Therefore marks out of the are 8.

*Trains were very good this trip. I do like a train ride. But enough of my anorakishness when it comes to transport.
