Le Weekend
Firstly, yes this is about football. 90 minutes, 1-0; 2 mins of injury time 2-1.
Secondly, I'm having another of my exhausted days at work. I keep resting my head on an inflatable guitar on my desk (the joys of working in a children's department) and trying to sleep. This is because I had a lovely weekend.
Friday night decided to have a picnic and champagne supper at home. Yes I was on my own, no I don't really care. I had a lovely time cutting things out of magazines and other remedial activities and watching Big Brother amongst others. BB5 has been, quite frankly, superb. Loving the bedsit diversion and watching Michelle and Emma freak out just makes it all worth while. Just wait till they get back in the house.
Saturday was all about the 'hood. Walking down to Whitechapel, going to the library, pottering around the market, going up Bethnal Green Road and being ecstatic at finding Pink Fizz on sale in Sainsburys. Bought the last two bottles. Ended up having a little nap before going out to the *points down* Derren Brown show. Which was great fun.
Afterwards a quick drink with the others before Richard & I went Dome-wards and Down-hill from there. More wine/pints, deciding to go home/deciding to go to one of the late night bars round Hanway Street, more wine/dancing/the macarena then a night bus a piece.
Sunday - tired and a bit hungover. Quick flower market pitstop. Then to meet Nicky to go to the Britain at War exhibition. We're 'anything in a period costume' freaks. It was very well done and very moving. You could touch things, so of course I'm putting the helmet and flak jacket on. Very fetching. Ended up in a bombed out department store. It's one of those things where you get a real sense of excitement and dare I say it glamour and yet you know it was a terrible time everytime you see the footage of the young men heading off to war.
Co-incidentally Westminster were hosting a West End at War event in Leicester Square over the weekend. We arrived in time to see alot of blue rinses dancing and singing along to wartime classics. Made me wonder how we'll look at 70 dancing to Duran Duran? A few displays of vehicles and memorabilia of the war and lots of veterans around doing sterling Dad's Army impressions. It was really rather nice.
And so homewards to watch the football......
