Here comes the sun....
I went to a film quiz last night. We didn't win. My contribution comprised mainly of answers that were thus:
Gone With the Wind
Casablanca
Calamity Jane/Secret Love
High Society
You can see where my strengths lie when it comes to films.
We did, however, win a prize for best table name. One that I shamelessly nicked but no one else seemed to have heard before. Who cares, we won Maltesers. Tequilla Mockingbird if anyone is interested.
Speaking of film classics and musicals. I saw Guys & Dolls the other night. It was fab! How's that for a theatre review? Everyone asked how Ewan was and whilst I'm as guilty as the next person of seeing a play based purely on the strength of a Big.Name.Star it seems a shame that is the only reason many people seem to know of it. It was well acted, beautifully sung and there are two, in particular, fabulous dance sequences. Oh and how was Ewan? He was good, but not as good as the two female leads who were excellent, especially Jenna Russell.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, as Molly Meldrum would say 'do yourself a favour' and go and see it.
In other news, the sea monkeys continue to live. Their ecosystem has changed dramatically and it seems even more conducive to life. Will they never die? We now have about half a dozen happily living in an much less fetid environment but with some very strange bright green algae.
In keeping with the theme to turn the office into a living breathing entity (outside that which we humans occupy) we are also growing sunflowers. They all have names beginning with S. Mine is called Scarlett. She's the tall, thin, beautiful and flawed.
Do you get the feeling that in these parts there's a sign saying 'You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps'. There is a touch of that going on. What happened to a cool media environment? Huh? And to think I get to spend 40 hours a week here......
